This book was the first Jack Ryder Mystery Book I have ever read. Willow Rose did a good job on this one. She had suspense, mystery and a lot of ingenuity. I have another story in this book, because it has two books in it. I will read another one of these stories and other books by this author she does a good job. I will be back soon to report about the other story in this volume I finished the second book in this volume. It was a continuation of the first book. Jack and Shannon were going to build a house for themselves and all of their children. Shannon was going to have a baby and it was Jack's!

October 4, 2020Good but feels incomplete Volumes 1 & 2 of the Jack Ryder mysteries are good, but they lack real endings. The cases are pretty much solved but the books end leaving the stories themselves wide open and unfinished. Like they might continue on in the next book, but the next book is completely different characters (other than Jack, his family and girlfriend) and crimes. I was confused when I started the 2nd book. Don't get me wrong, the writing is excellent and the world/character building are great, I just thought the endings were unfinished. I love Willow Rose's writing and will absolutely read more of her books. These two could definitely be stand alone books, as they cover different people and crimes, just with the same "hero" and his family.
As for Jack himself, he's a laid back surfer, hard working homicide detective, loving single father to his twins and his late partner's teenage daughter, a loving son to his parents, and loving boyfriend. He and his family live in Cocoa Beach, Florida, which sounds like a wonderful place, minus the bugs and humidity.

Jack Ryder is a detective in Cocoa Beach Florida, a series of murders happen in the small town. The first is that of a woman who was found by her son with the husband asleep in the same room. The weird thing was that the woman was partially dismembered. The husband was drugged so he has no recollection of anything happening. Jack has to figure out how all of this happened. The second book was about Shannon King who is a country singer who came to Cocoa Beach because she was running from an abusive husband. Shannon has her own demons that followed her, there is a killer who is sending her emails saying their sorry for what's about to happen. Shannon is worried because she has kept the emails a secret but she had to tell Jack because at a concert she was performing at someone shot into the crowd killing 2 people.

I have just finished the first book of this series. It was an quick read but there were a few problems. The book jumped around so much that I was never quite sure who was speaking in each chapter. I also do not believe that the author has spent much time with young children. There were three 5-6 year old characters that spoke and acted like they were at least 10 years old. The characters weren't well developed either. I just felt like there was so much going on that everything felt rushed. I will read the second one to see if it gets any better. I have read other books by Willow Rose that were better than this one.

Awesome read. Willow Rose just got a new fan. This is the first time I've ever read books by Willow Rose. This series has caught my attention and I look forward to catching up on her other series of books as well. I love the mystery and the family oriented father figure. I was a single mom of three and it's a breath of fresh air to see the view from a single father. And he has a great support system as I did. Can't wait for the books. Awesome read!!!

Dark and twisted I love everything about these two books, they’re both very interesting with a lot of characters, and a lot of mystery. I was kind of surprised At how dark and twisted the plot got and I was very happy with the ending, it’s very very very suspenseful and I deathly can’t wait to read the third book in the series

Jack Ryder Mystery Series: Vol 1-2 I really enjoy the way Willow Rose tells a story, she constantly has me wondering how she is going to pull the back stories together. Jack Ryder is a very likeable character and I like the way his brain works. Two stories that have lots happening that make them hard to put down.

Action packed, these two crime thrillers fit well into the genre. The characters are believable, with suspects around every corner, and each plot is filled with mystery and suspense. I don't give spoilers so can't say much, but overall, they are well-written and worth a look.

Review: Jack Ryder Mystery Series I liked the books but I would not read any more of this author's books because of the sex descriptions that were not necessary to the story. It would be much better if it was described in such a way as to suggest it but not give details.

Death The why of death is never easy. Often the complete story is never known. Trying to discover how these tales related to each other was part of reason to keep reading. Very relatable story lines. Gory deaths do not need to be minutely detailed to be scarily real. Well done.

Gripping thrillers. Though I normally take breaks between books in a series, I read all four back to back in this one. I like how as the story goes forward, chapters of backstory are inserted. Slowly what is happening dawn's on the reader.

Hard to put down Both books were hard to put down once you got into them. Only negative I have is in book 2 the bouncing back and forth with dates sometimes got confusing and had to check facts.
Look forward to more Willow Rose books.

Hmm Honestly can't rate this because I only read a couple of chapters. Too graphic for me. Some pictures I don't want in my head. The writing style is good. The characters are dimensional. It's descriptive but not wordy.

Disturbing These two books are well written. The subject matter is murder, child abuse, spousal abuse, alcohol addiction, and different psychological disorders. The stories are not complete. Hope the next book closes the loose ends.

Perfect as aleay Murder at it's best. With lots of suspects twists and turns. Characters you love and those you loath. Hoping it's the one you loath that is guilty. Never sure til the end who really do IT.

Bravo I am not keen on her supernatural fiction but she does right a good, darn thriller. I am amazed at her imagination and you warm to Jack's parents but even they have secrets x
